Houston Chronicle, Washington Post Endorse Hillary Clinton

Yesterday, the Houston Chronicle wrote took the unusual step of endorsing Hillary Clinton early in the campaign cycle in this strongly worded editorial.  In case you’re wondering if the Houston Chronicle is some liberal “lame-stream” media outlet, before endorsing Hillary they had only endorsed one Democratic candidate for President between 1968 and 2012 (endorsing President Obama in 2008, but not for re-election); they endorsed Richard Nixon twice, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan twice, George H.W. Bush twice, Bob Dole, George W. Bush twice, and Mitt Romney.  The editorial board did not mince their words.  Despite disagreeing with Hillary on a number of policy issues, they endorsed Clinton because “[Trump] is, we believe, a danger to the Republic.”

This follows last week’s article in the Washington Post that it was eschewing its tradition of waiting until closer to the election to endorse a candidate to state that it would not endorse Donald Trump because, among other things, he “represents a threat to the Constitution” and “is a unique and present danger.”
